SJU L-Ab / "The other side of SJU-Orchestra"
The ensemble led by guitarist Francesco Diodati is an octet ensemble composed of a selection of student-musicians from the two-year SJU courses of the Siena Jazz Academy. It is an unconventional formation, featuring vocals, drums, as well as double bass and piano/keyboards and electronics. The set-up is structured in such a way that the individual instrumentalists perform a specific function within the band, away from what is usually the role of rhythm section and front-liners, stepping outside the stylistic trappings of classical jazz training to flesh out an ensemble that constitutes a single body and a single voice. The developed repertoire is naturally affected by this choice and consists of spontaneous compositions based on the sharing of musical practices devoted to rhythm and melodic combinations, combined with pieces written for the occasion and songs from the jazz repertoire revisited in a completely original way. All this results in a production with a unique sound, characterized by the movements and intersections of voices and a dual, powerful and complementary rhythmic base. The project was born within the workshop that Diodati himself leads as part of the teaching activities of the academic courses of Siena Jazz, the purpose of which is to develop a more contemporary approach in the dimension of the small and large ensemble. The formative goal of the workshop is to offer an alternative key to students and give them the interpretive tools of modern language, enabling them to move with ease in the most diverse performative situations.

A fortuitous meeting intended by fate that between PETRA MAGONI (voice) and FERRUCCIO SPINETTI (double bass), a duo that answers to the name of NUDA MUSIC. A solo singer with already four albums to her credit, in January 2003 Petra Magoni was planning a mini-tour to some small clubs in "her" Tuscany with a guitarist friend. On the very day of their first concert, the latter fell ill. Petra, instead of canceling the date, asked Ferruccio, former double bass player of Avion Travel, to fill in at the last minute. The concert is such a success that the two protagonists of this "Voice'n'bass" combo, within a few weeks, put together an entire repertoire consisting of the songs they love most and in one day's rush record their first album "Naked Music", a title that will later also give their duo its name. In twenty years of intense concert activity all over the world, Musica Nuda has collected prestigious awards boasting in their palmarรจs the "Targa Tenco 2006" in the performers category, the award for "Best Tour" at the 2006 Mei in Faenza and "Les quatre clรฉs de Tรฉlรฉrama" in France in 2007. Over the years, Ferruccio and Petra have taken their project around the world, also managing to reach prestigious venues including the Olympia in Paris, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. In addition, they have been guests at Pina Bausch's Tanz Wuppertal Festival and, also in Germany, have opened Al Jarreau's concerts.
